Account Setup and Privacy
A few practical things to set up on your account and some habits worth building early.
Your profile
Upload an avatar and write a short signature if you want. Neither is required, but an account with a face (even a generic one) and a few posts gets more trust than a blank profile.
Private messages
All trade negotiation, shipping details and personal information belongs in PMs, never in public threads. Check your PM inbox regularly if you have open trades.
Choosing a handle
Pick a username that is not connected to your real identity. Do not reuse a handle from social media, email or other forums where your real name is visible. This is basic operational security.
Two-factor authentication
If the board offers 2FA in your account settings, turn it on. An extra login step is a small inconvenience that prevents a much larger problem.
General opsec habits
- Use a dedicated email address for this board, not your personal one
- Consider accessing the board through a VPN
- Do not post photos with metadata that reveals your location
- Never screenshot and share PM conversations without removing identifying details
None of this is paranoia. It is just good practice for a community like ours.
