Marketplace Prefixes, Bumps and Reopening Threads
Here is how listings work in the marketplace: which prefix your thread gets, how often you can bump it and what happens to threads that go quiet.
Prefixes
Threads in the buy and sell boards get their prefix by themselves: WTS (want to sell) in a sell board and WTB (want to buy) in a buy board. The prefix list on the new thread form already starts on it, so you only change it when you want something else. Want to swap instead? Pick Trade, which you will find in the buy boards and the general sell boards. These are the lists:
- Sell boards (Sälj, Selg, Sælg): WTS, Sold, Closed
- General sell boards (Säljes, Selges, Sælges): WTS, Trade, Interest, Sold, Closed
- Buy boards (Köp, Kjøp, Køb, Köpes, Kjøpes, Købes): WTB, Trade, Closed
New Members cannot edit posts yet. If that is you, just stop bumping, and the thread closes by itself after 30 days without activity.
Bumps
A bump moves your thread back to the top of the board. Use the Bump button in the thread toolbar of your own listing.
- One bump every 24 hours per thread.
- The 24 hours count from the newest of three things: when you started the thread, your last bump and your own last post in it. So a reply from you uses up the bump as well.
- While you wait, the button shows the time left, like "Bump in 5h 12m".
- There is no Bump button on closed threads or on threads marked Sold or Closed.
No bump replies
You cannot reply to your own thread just to push it up. If the last post is yours and you posted or bumped less than 24 hours ago, the reply is refused. Edit your post instead, or wait for the Bump button. When someone else has posted last, you can always answer.
Quiet threads close after 30 days
A marketplace thread with no activity for 30 days closes by itself. It gets the Closed prefix (a thread marked Sold keeps Sold), and you get an alert. A bump counts as activity, so bumping keeps a listing open.
Reopening a thread
If the board closed your thread for inactivity, you can open it again yourself with the Reopen thread button on the thread page. The prefix goes back to what it was (or to WTS, WTB or Sale), and Bump works again. Reopening does not bump the thread, but it counts as activity, so the thread stays open for at least another 30 days.
You can reopen your own thread as long as you are still allowed to start threads in that board. Vendors keep Bump and Reopen on their own listings after a tier change.
Threads closed by staff stay closed. If you think that was a mistake, send a PM to a staff member.
VIP members can also close and reopen their own threads with a button in the thread toolbar.
